The programs last for three years are multidisciplinary and include a combination of economics, social sciences and law, as well as specialized knowledge of labor market policies and labor market services. The program is divided into nine trimesters, each lasting four months. The students spend five trimesters at the respective campus (attendance trimester). In between, they complete four internship trimesters in an employment agency, a job center or another company in Germany and abroad.

The University of the Federal Employment Agency (HdBA) offers two bachelor's degree programs: "Labor Market Management" and "Counseling for Education, Work and Employment". With these you can qualify for tasks around the job market.

Contents of the course
- The study program "Labor Market Management" includes the major fields of study "Labor Market Integration", "Benefits Law and Counseling" as well as "Labor Market and Public Management".
- In the degree program "Counseling for Education, Career and Employment", students acquire specific consulting expertise and can choose between "professional advice", "case management" and "participation in working life".
Admission criteria & study application
Access to study is decided by a multi-stage selection procedure, which usually starts one year before the beginning of studies. The documents must be submitted directly to the local employment agency. Applicants must pass a selection test. The assessment is based on the application documents, a PC-based aptitude test, a job interview and an assessment center. Before completing their studies, the students conclude a training contract for the dual study program with an employment agency. The hiring takes place annually on the 1st of September.
Possible careers after graduation
HdBA graduates are accepted into employment after a successful graduation for at least 24 months at the Federal Employment Agency (BA). Regularly a takeover in a permanent employment with the BA takes place.
As part of the employment relationship with the BA, the graduates take on jobs at employment agencies or job centers, directly after graduation usually one of the following:
- In the employment agencies, HdBA graduates work as placement or counseling specialists and, for example, advise young people on choosing a career or provide jobseekers in employment. In addition, they may perform or provide work in the areas of employer consulting or benefit provision. In the context of internal personnel management.
- In the job centers they are e.g. working as personal contact persons for people under the age of 25 or over, working as an employment agency, case manager, as a specialist in the granting of benefits or in the employer service.
In addition, there are good promotion and development opportunities within the BA.
Outside the BA there are also job opportunities, e.g. in the field of public management of public institutions, social security funds or personnel service providers.
